The Korean story of the little mermaid is that she must kill the prince in order to be human, and instead in the end, she loves him too much and kills herself instead.
Actually, I think that’s how all the little mermaid/mermaid princess stories go, but Disney changed it because… you can’t show the main character killing herself in a Disney movie. ._. That would be bad.
